Many of us have old ornaments in our collections — pieces that are decades old. Keepsakes from grandparents, iconic patterns from years gone by, ornaments that still carry a beautiful, traditional painting on the outside but have gone completely dull on the inside, darkened by oxidised silver.

Most people assume nothing can be done. But in my workshop, we restore their original brilliance without touching the exterior decoration.

Coming soon, I am inviting you behind the scenes of my workshop for a special restoration demonstration. I will show you the most demanding and most precise part of the entire process: how to renew the glass "mirror" from the inside, without damaging a single millimetre of the original, antique paint on the outside.

What you will see during the demonstration:

Precision acid cleaning. How to safely introduce nitric acid into the interior of an ornament to reduce and remove the old, oxidised silver without disturbing the paintwork on the outside.

Warm silvering from the inside. The process of introducing a fresh silver solution into the interior and the reaction under heat the moment when a dull, darkened ornament recovers its original brilliance and depth in a matter of seconds.

Protecting the original. How to secure the antique surface so that the original brushwork from decades ago retains its authentic character.

This is not ordinary restoration. This is a precision operation on living craft history.
